Step 1 - Fill out an online background check release form

Before you can volunteer as part of the volunteer application process, The Anoka-Hennepin School District must obtain information and permission to conduct background checks on your criminal record history through Trusted Employees. Click on the "Online Background Check" button to be connected to the Trusted Employees secure website. Follow all of the prompts and provide all requested information including signing on the online electronic release. If you have any questions, please contact Trusted Employees at 1-888-389-4023. As mentioned above this must be repeated every year.

Step 2 - Fill out an Online Volunteer application form

Before you can volunteer you must submit a Volunteer Application to the Anoka High School Volunteer Office. This is used to trigger conducting the background check above. Click on the "Online Volunteer Application" button. Fill out the online form and submit. Be sure to indicate you are volunteering for band activities. Again, this must be repeated every year.

Throughout the year the APBA Boosters will post opportunities for volunteering  via SignUp.com. Simply click the button below, create an account, and start volunteering!!

Volunteers

We value our volunteers!  There are so many ways that you can help.  Put some of your talent, inspiration and enthusiasm into the Anoka Band Program and we promise you will have a great time!


Here are some places where you can help.…..

  • Board membership

  • Band fundraisers

  • Concerts 

  • Parades

  • Spat camp

  • Music in Motion Home Show - on hiatus

  • Goodrich field concession stand

  • Chaperoning marching band competition

  • Moving equipment at football games

  • Providing snack/donating snacks 

  • Uniform fitting

  • Carpentry

  • Photography

  • Publicity

  • First-aid

  • Driving TNO (Tornado Night Out)

  • Serving meals

  • Overnight events

Opportunities - subject to change

Parades:

Parents chaperone the students on the bus to the parade and provide support, including water, during the parade route.

  • Time commitment: Typically, half a day

  • Occurs 5 - 7 times during the year

  • Need 10 - 12 parents each parade


Tornado Night Out (TNO):

Parents drive a group of students as they go door-to-door in the community asking for donations to the band.

  • Time commitment: 3 - 4 hours in the evening during the week

  • Occurs only 3 days during the year

  • Need 14 - 18 drivers each night

Meal Serving:

Parents are needed to serve the kiddos food during Spat Camp, TNO and others as needed.

  • Time commitment: 2 - 3 hours (mostly for dinner in the evening during the week)

  • Occurs 5 - 10 times during the year

  • Need 4 - 6 parent servers each meal

Field Show Competitions:

Parents chaperone the students on the bus, getting the kids in uniform, getting the props and equipment on and off the field

  • Time commitment: Typically, all day

  • Occurs Saturdays in September and early October

  • Need 15 parents each field show

Uniforms:

Kids need to be fitted at the beginning of the year for their assigned uniforms as well as maintenance throughout the year to keep the uniforms looking (and smelling) great.

  • Time commitment: 1 - 2 days for uniform fittings

  • Need: 4 - 6 parents


Overnights:

The Marshall field show and YMCA lock-in require parents to be on hand during the full time overnight.

  • Time commitment: 1 - 2 days

  • Need: 20 volunteers

Concessions:

The concession stand at AMSA Goodrich Field is operated by the band parents. Help is needed to get the concession stand opened prior to the soccer and football games as well as selling concessions

  • Time commitment: 4 - 6 hours

  • Need: 15 - 20 volunteers

Youth in Music (YIMS) State Championship Field Show: October

YIMS is an all-day commitment to support the kids with uniforms, props and equipment at US Bank Stadium. Volunteers for YIMS are based on the number of hours volunteered during the year because of free entry into the field show.

  • Time commitment: all day

  • Need: 20 parents
